Peoplesoft Authentication/cookie domain setting

I have a client on PT8.60.08. HR92 PUM47.

Let's say their portal URL is:https://hrapp.somecompany.com/psp/….

For my understanding from Peoplebook, MOS, online references, the PeopleSoft's authenciation or cookie domain for the above should be set to '.somecompany.com', is that how everyone does it?

But this will cause all PeopleSoft cookies to be sent to all other subdomains under .somecompany.com.

Will there be any issue if I set the PeopleSoft authention/ cookie domain to '.hrapp.somecompany.com'?
