Alternative to Troy Printer Direct Print

PeopleTools 8.62.07, FS/SCM 9.2 PUM 55, Windows x64

On both PeopleSoft FS/AP (and in HCM Payroll) we frequently have issues generating checks with our Troy check printers.

Has any organization found an alternative to this for generating checks?
