What testing do you perform for a PeopleTools minor patch upgrade (for example 8.61.17 to 8.61.21)?

Hello Everyone,

My organization is currently on PeopleTools 8.61.17. We have Portal 9.1, CS 35 FSCM 53, and HCM 53.

I'm interested in learning what testing approaches other organizations use when applying a PeopleTools minor patch upgrade.

For example, if you are upgrading from PeopleTools 8.61.17 to 8.61.21 (or a similar patch-level upgrade within the same PeopleTools release), what level of testing do you typically perform before moving to production?

Some specific questions:

  • Do you perform a full regression test of all business processes, or a more targeted validation?
  • Which functional areas do you consider mandatory to test?
  • Do you focus primarily on navigation, security, integrations, batch processing, and reporting?
