Update Images on Containers are out - will Native OS (specifically Windows) still be supported?

I was under the impression that the Update Images on Containers option meant Native OS/VirtualBox options were being phased out. But they're still available with FSCM PUM Image 57 so will the Native OS option remain for the foreseeable future?
