CI-based web service: can an AE transform program be applied to the response?

Hi,

Can an Application Engine transform program registered on the Outbound Response of the routing be applied to the response generated by the delivered Component Interface handler (ONREQUESTHDLR) for a CI-based synchronous service operation? If so, what conditions must be met?

Background:

We exposed a Component Interface as a SOAP web service (created via Provide Web Service / CI-Based Services). An external system creates and updates transactions in PeopleSoft system through it. The Update operations return the delivered "Notification" response shape only. We need the response to also return system-assigned child-record keys (for example ADDRESS_SEQ_NUM assigned during the save), so we attached an Application Engine transform program to the Outbound Response of the routing to append those values.
