NSC | Updating Item Costing Method
Scenario:
The user wants to change the costing method (e.g., from Average to FIFO, or to Standard) on an existing inventory item record but is unsure whether this can be done directly.
Solution:
Once a costing method is set on an inventory item record, the system does not allow it to be changed. This is a system limitation designed to maintain costing consistency and data integrity for historical transactions.
Workaround
If you need to switch the costing method for an item, here’s the recommended manual approach:
- Adjust Inventory to Zero:
- Go to Transactions > Inventory > Adjust Inventory.
