NSC | GL Impact: Which Transactions Affect It?
Scenario:
The user is confused as to why Item Fulfillment and Item Receipt transactions generate GL impact, whereas Sales Orders and Purchase Orders do not.
Solution:
This is expected system behavior in NetSuite and is based on the nature and purpose of each transaction type:
Sales Orders and Purchase Orders – No GL Impact
- Sales Orders (SOs) and Purchase Orders (POs) are considered non-posting transactions.
- They represent a commitment or intent to sell or purchase items but do not result in actual inventory movement or financial changes at the time they are created.
- Since no physical movement of inventory or cash has occurred yet, the system does not create GL entries.
