Scenario
User is facing an issue where an item in NetSuite won’t allow them to add a unit, such as "Each," because no units type was specified when the item was initially created. Now, when they attempt to update the Units Type field to fix pricing types, they encounter an error. This is likely due to the "Primary Consumption Unit" field being missing or hidden on their customized Inventory Part Form.
Solution
To address this, you can use one of the following methods to successfully add the "Each" unit to your item:
Method 1: Customize the Form to Expose the Primary Consumption Unit Field
- Open the item record by navigating to it and clicking Edit.
- In the upper-right corner, select Customize > Customize Form.
- Go to the Fields tab and select the Main subtab.
- Locate the Primary Consumption Unit field and check the Show box next to it.
- Click Save to update the form.
- Return to the item record and click Edit again.
- In the Units Type field, select Each.
- Click Save to update the item.
Method 2: Use the Standard Form
- Switch from your customized Inventory Part Form to the standard NetSuite form for the item.
- In the Units Type field, select Each.
- Click Save to update the item.
By following either of these methods, you should be able to add the "Each" unit and resolve any related pricing type issues.
