NSC | Capturing Bin Number on Sales Orders for Non-Lot and Non-Serialized Items
Scenario:
The user wanted to capture bin information directly on a Sales Order for items that are neither serialized nor lot-numbered. The goal was to specify a preferred bin location earlier in the order process rather than waiting until Item Fulfillment.
Solution:
By native NetSuite design, bin assignment for standard inventory items occurs during the Item Fulfillment stage. Inventory Detail assignment on the Sales Order is only supported for lot-numbered or serialized items.
For non-lot and non-serialized items:
- Bin numbers cannot be natively assigned through Inventory Detail on the Sales Order
- NetSuite does not allocate inventory bins at the Sales Order stage for standard inventory items
