Scenario:
The user wanted to change the display order of Price Levels shown on Item records in NetSuite, such as moving certain frequently used price levels to the top of the list. Attempts to customize the form layout did not affect the order in which the price levels appeared.
Solution:
In NetSuite, the display order of Price Levels on Item records is not directly customizable through forms or user preferences.
Price Levels are generally displayed based on:
- Alphabetical order by name
- Internal creation order/internal ID
Because of this behavior, the standard workaround is to rename the Price Levels using prefixes that control the sorting order.
Recommended approaches:
Alphabetical Sorting Method
Rename the Price Levels with alphabetic prefixes such as:
- A - Distributor Cost 2021
- B - Retail Pricing
- C - Wholesale Pricing
This forces the desired order alphabetically.
Numerical Sorting Method
Rename the Price Levels with numeric prefixes such as:
- 01 - Distributor Cost 2022
- 02 - Wholesale
- 03 - Retail
This provides more controlled and scalable sorting behavior.
To rename Price Levels:
- Navigate to:
Setup > Accounting > Accounting Lists > Price Level - Edit the desired Price Level records.
- Update the names using the preferred prefix convention.
- Save the changes.
Renaming Price Levels is the standard and commonly used workaround for controlling the display order of Price Levels within NetSuite Item records.
