NSC | Invalid Purchase Unit Reference When Updating Lot Numbered Inventory Items via CSV

Scenario:

The user attempted to update a Lot Numbered Inventory Item through a CSV import using the item’s Internal ID. They needed to change the Purchase Unit and Stock Unit from Gram to Kilogram.

Although the user mapped the Primary Unit Type, the import returned the following error:

Invalid purchaseunit reference key Kg for unitstype 3.

Solution:

During a CSV item import, NetSuite matches the Purchase Unit and Stock Unit values using the unit’s Plural Name, not its abbreviation.

In this example:

• Unit Name: Kilogram
• Plural Name: Kilograms
• Abbreviation: kg

The CSV file used Kg, which is an abbreviation. Because NetSuite expects the unit’s Plural Name, it could not find a matching unit reference and returned the invalid reference key error.
