How to resolve the error: Cart update failed. Item does not exist?

edited Jun 2, 2025 2:34PM in Ask A Guru 15 comments

Some of our customers get this error when they add an item to the cart (WSDK):

"Cart update failed. Item (x) does not exist"

I've encountered this myself as well and would like to know more about this...:

  1. I usually tell people to clear their cookies... and then the issue is gone. So it's a cookie issue (at least)
  2. The item DOES exist in Netsuite and has been available for months/years...

The only issue I can think of is:

The item may have been in the customer's cart already from a few weeks(?) ago. The item has been updated in the meantime. Now the customer wants to add it to the cart again, and it's a mismatch somehow...

Howdy, Stranger!
