Thanks a bunch. You saved me the time of attempting that work-around. Too bad it didn't help! It would have been a fast fix for this problem. We (W/F) won't do this because it's a pain in the as* and frankly I want NS to fix the error of their ways so ALL customers can benefit from properly indexed images especially those…

Did Philip tell you when can we expect Google indexable item images in NetSuite? -Tom

46 posts in this thread and 842 views and not one comment from anyone at NetSuite. NS, could you please advise the users that are investing valuable resources tackling this problem if NS has any plans to address this issue? Thanks

Yea, but what if it isn't in the same directory. We may have brass #5 widgets in the following categories... >All Widgets >All Widgets> Green >All Widgets> Large etc. >Sale Items> >Lawn Mower Parts> Performance enhancement> Performance Widgets We use the descriptive URL feature and we have NS add the category to the URL…

Does anyone out there have image URLs in their sitemap? See... http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=178636 I went looking for a website crawler that would build a sitemap that included image URLs. I found two, but went with InSpyder Sitemap generator. Sitemap Writer pro was another one that…

Has anyone tried doing this.... Image URLs in NS are... our-domain.com/core/media/media.nl?id=17863&c=000000 change them by adding keywords on the end like this... our-domain.com/core/media/media.nl?id=17863&X=keyword ...where X is a custom variable and the keywords are pulled from the product name or a custom field. Would…

Subdomains are OK, but not great for SEO because the images will relate to the Subdomains URL and not your www site. It will get you into Google image search, but the regular Google listings might not do as well as if the images are held on your primary www domain. I learned this when adding a user group to our website. I…

Adding images to a sitemap is NOT an option with the NS sitemap generator. I went back to using a 3rd party for sitemaps I've tried about six sitemap generators. I like Inspyder sitemap generator. It is easy to use and doesn't require any special setup and it does include images in the sitemap and it lets you set rules…

Looking at a Google image search today, I noticed something new. Google now has "sponsored images" at the top of the image search results. So, they are now capitalizing on the high traffic of shoppers using "Google image search" to find a specific products. Looks like NetSuite's slowness in addressing image search has cost…

The NS blog gives ideas about getting your NS webstore "ready for the Holiday". One tip titled "Optimize images" says to compressing them so they load quicker. http://netsuite.typepad.com/blog/2009/12/are-you-and-your-web-store-ready-for-the-holiday-shopping-rush.html Why not a tip on how to get the product images where…

Stacy, you have a great price on CAT5e cable. -Tom PS: NetSuite, when can we expect Google indexable item images?

I noticed something else today (regarding Google image search). We moved about 200 images into a folder in the hosted files area (as per the work-around described elsewhere in this thread). We did that about 4 or 5 months ago and 25% of those images recently showed up in the Google image search. It took them about 4 months…

Oh, so the Descriptive Image URL capability will be different than the one provided for web store items. The one for web store items would change ".html" to "-html". Either way, it sounds like we'll be getting all of our item images listed in Google with the first fix (the jsessionids). The first fix will get them in there…

I'm very happy about this. Before I get too happy, could someone else who's familiar with "Google image search" let me know if those two enhancements will fix the issue or is there more that needs to be done? Like, do we also need images with .jpg or .gif extensions? NS descriptive URLs feature won't allow us to use a "."…

Everything is working fine now. The silly thing is when NS was resizing the images they didn't reduce the file size. The file size will be the same. NetSuite doesn't have a "true" thumbnail generator like other webstores. If you set a 100px thumbnail size preference in NS, they just use a tag that constrains your larger…

Enhancement 152926: File Cabinet > Image with ALT attribute and NOT encrypted URL for Google Image Search Enhancement 152926 needs to be combined with Enhancement 131530. Enhancement 131530: Web Store > images > Support for descriptive URLs for images

I encountered a new set of problems with the "work-around" to get descriptive URLs (as described earlier in this thread). We exported our froogle feed today (which shouldn't be necessary if NS looked at the froogle API) and noticed that the URLs for the images were like this.....…

Thanks for acknowledging our concerns. Let "the team" know that it might get us what we need a lot quicker of they just integrated with a 3rd webstore cart/platform. Let them know that everyone selling online through the NS web store platform is missing free traffic and most likely free revenue every day because of missing…

There is a manual way to have descriptive image URLs in NS, but it is very tedious and so we need a faster way to automate the procedure if NS can't add "descriptive image URLs" as a global account setting. Here is how to do it yourself. Any image stored in the NS image folder will have a cryptic URL, like...…

Alt image tags might help when used in conjunction with descriptive file names, but your products won't get found in Google image searches until your item URL ends with the file name and the file name will need to contain the right key words. Currently your image file names are not displayed in your web store. Vote for…

We took the laborious step of moving several hundred images outside of the default storage area. We renamed each one with a more descriptive and "web friendly" name (like small-brass-widget-XYZ2000.jpg). We then manually used the "use image from URL" feature (in the item set-up) to show NS where each item's image was held.…

Two other things I read about this topic... 1. For image results, Google uses a different bot, which indexes only image results. The key difference between the two is that the image bot visits much less frequently. While Googlebot may visit every week, Googlebot-image may only visit your site every 6 months. Getting images…

Enhancement #131530 Support descriptive image URLs that end in JPG or GIF I have searched for images related to what we sell (in Google image search). Every single item (on the first 5 or 6 pages) used the search term in the name of the image. T

Can you edit the directory that they are in and make it a sub-directory of Webite Hosting Files directory? __________________ That move makes descriptive URLs available, but the webstore still doesn't use the descriptive URLs after the images are moved. You would then need to go into each item and click "New Image" and…

I figured that I would be reminded that some of those features are available with Java or with other complicated work-arounds. I know that a third or even a half of the list has work around or a third party solution. Most workarounds require either a significant investment of time, money(paid to 3rd party developers),…

We're getting our images searched @ around 1000 visits/month. It happened by accident, to be perfectly honest, but we did it by naming our keywords in the image name. It looks like they're in a separate directory from the NS image directory. Any more tips on getting images listed? You have 241 images in Google's image…
