Description

Hi Team,

First of all, Thankyou for the Initiative for putting Ideas on the product requirements we have.

We added a new column to My Calculations in OAC. We tried to use the new created column(from My Calculations) and column in a Variable prompt visualization. We get Error while doing so and MOS suggested the current expected behavior is not to use custom column(My Calculations) in  variable prompt. MOS also suggested to raise it as an idea for product enhancement. Reference SR: SR 3-24468805951

We believe this can help in providing additional functionality to Business Users, who cannot create the custom columns in RPD but in My Calculations in OAC.

Moreover, if there is any other functionality already available similar to above then we would also like to explore.

Thanks & regards,

Asish Mahapatra

Use Case and Business Need

Business Need: Business users(who don't have access to RPD to create custom columns) usually create custom columns in My calculation area. They wish to use the column in variable prompt so that same KPIs can be weighed against the custom columns(in My Calculations). Currently variable prompt only takes columns from the Original Subject area in RPD. If variable prompt can be extended to take columns from My Calculations columns, it would solve the purpose of not creating it in RPD.

  • Hi,

Not sure if I have misunderstood your requirement, but calculated columns in a project do work with variable prompts. I checked the same in OAC 5.8

However, for the time-being, please check if following option can address your issue -

Create a local subject area with all the columns required from your RPD subject area. Add the calculated column in the Prepare tab and apply script. This should enable your users to create their calculated columns and use the same in variable prompts without having to add these columns in your RPD.

    Thanks.
