Eliminate {Quotes / Phrases /Jokes} on OAC Home Screen.
Organization Name
Postmedia Network
Description
While OAC DV Home page is loading, there is a group of random "phrases" that show up on userse screen.
Examples:
- can you dig it
- data + coffee = love
- 2:30 is the best time to see the dentist
Please, let us -customers- decide if we desire or not such a feature visible to our end users.
If this is too dificult to accomplish, please consider eliminating those phrases completely.
Thank You,
Marcelo Finkielsztein
Use Case and Business Need
Use Case: User waits for Home Screen to show up. Meanwhile, user is subjected to reading a list of phrases that was not authored by the Service Administrators, not authoized by company policies, not included on any specifications redacted by the Business Analysts, never requested by Business Managers.
Business Need: Our business needs a page that loads faster. Hopefully, voiding the point of showing these "quotes".
More details
Please, keep in mind you have a world wide range of end users, many of them will come from different cultures and backgrounds.
Some of your customers may feel uncomfrotable, confused, annoyed, disturbed, bored, insulted by your choice of quotes.
Thank you.

Replace the text with the word "Loading..." or make it a text string value that can be set in the System Settings on the Console.

I agree - not all users are fans of those "wannabe funny" messages, rather provide the ability to customize message, which will appear during page loading (this can be leverage to provide some admin messages, informing user community about some important facts).

I actually rather enjoy the attempt at humor and whimsical messages and have heard no complaints from our user base, but I suppose having the option to turn them off or provide specific messaging can't hurt , so here's one vote for not eliminating them entirely.

FYI, the phrases appear only for authors and admins, users who are consumers of content (e.g. BI Consumer) see a "Loading..." message, this is also true for embedded content.
Wed did try to avoid anything that might be inappropriate in any language or culture and will promptly remove anything that will be reported as such.

Hi Gabby Rubin, In OAS, PMRAConsumers & BIConsumers still see these what we call "Snapple" phrases. Perhaps, instead of turning these messages off, give us the ability to customize these phrases based on our internal announcements. This would keep our executives entertained with better information while they wait for their DV projects to load.

The request is to let customers decide if they see them or not. Instead of imposing a feature.
Please consider that what you see as “whimsical” others may perceive as non professional, may consider them bad taste, may consider them a poor attempt at humour, may ser them as out of place.
In our particular case, we need to waste time responding to our users’ requests about this.
We face even comments like “instead of wasting time and resources on these useless phrases, give me an app that loads faster!!”In our views, this feature is counterproductive.

Please consider putting effort in letting admins decide if those are shown or not, instead of forcing us to report individual examples! We are wasting resources because of this. Time, effort, etc. We have other priorities to attend.
Please; reconsider.
Thank you fir letting us share our opinions with other oracle customers and colleagues.

I agree with this request to make these option and/or customizable.
I effect of these that I've noticed is making be aware of how slow the app is to load at times. Sometimes I don't have time to read the message before the app loads. Sometimes I get to read 3 or 4. which shows just how slow the app can be to load.
Speeding up load times would eliminate the need for something to distract me while I'm waiting.

I agree with this request to make these option as customizable.
should be nice to allow each admin user decide about these messages

Hello Otavio,
Actually, Oracle already implemented this for OAC.
You will find it at
Console => System Settings => Other => "Hide Loading Messages" (on/off)
