checkbox "Do not run dashboard automatically"
Organization Name (Required - If you are an Oracle Partner, please provide the organization you are logging the idea on behalf of):
Postmedia Network
Description (Required):
Dashboard analyses run automatically when all prompt values have defaults. Sometimes, this is not the desired behaviour.
Please add a checkbox to dashboard_prompts' configuration giving us the ability to NOR run the related analysis automatically when all prompts have default values.
(The same way this feature was implemented in BI Publisher reports)
Use Case and Business Need (Required):
Dashboard prompt contains defaults for all the prompted columns. Actual behaviour (undesired): the dashboard runs automatically with the default values.
Expected behaviour: The dashboard uses the checkbox to "run automatically / do not run automatically" accordingly, giving the dashboard developer a clear, straight-forward way to control execution.
Enhancement Request / Service Request:
Please add a checkbox to dashboard_prompts' configuration giving us the ability to NOR run the related analysis automatically when all prompts have default values.
(The same way this feature was implemented in BI Publisher reports)

May i have some feedback about this idea?
I am still trying to find a suitable way to improve this behaviour. So far, all work-arounds i have found have problems.

PLEASE!
May I have feedback about this?
Dear Community members, I will appreciate if you let me know how you are handling this o your Classic dashboards.
TIA,

This seems like a good enhancement. Our workaround adds a little bit of extra overhead to the reports, and required additional training to the community on how to prompt.
We use sections and conditional analyses on each section to prevent the report from running by default. For the reports that have all required prompts populated with default values, we add an additional prompt that is similar to the requested enhancement. It is essentially a Yes/No prompt that asks if you want to run the report using the default values, and we set it as No initially to prevent the report from running on opening the page. The conditional analysis for this type of report would be set to look for either a value of Yes OR any other dashboard prompt that has been updated from its default value.
