Summary

Failed to Save data model BI Publisher Trial Edition 11g for Windows 64 bit

Content

Hello,

I have installed BI Publisher Trial Edition 11g for Windows 64 bit(11.1.1.7.1). I am able to successfully connect to my database (Oracle) through JDBC.

When I am trying to create a DataSource or DataSet; I am unable to save the datamodel/dataset. It is giving me an error "Failed to Save".

I have assigned admin role to user.

Is there any configuration/setups which I am missing.

Note: I am not using OBIEE.

Please Advise.

Thanks in Advance,

Ravi

Try a clear cache form 'Administration->Mange Cache-->Clear Object Cache' and then try to save the data model. If not successful, post a screenshot of the server configuration page.(Administration-->Server configuration)

Can you update the 'System Temporary Directory' to blank (it should not have any value) and restart the services and see if it fixes the issue. Also you could check the bipublisher.log to get additional debug information.

Thanks Sherry for your reply. But, I am not able to see the Clear Cache option in Administration.

    Following is the screenshot.

I have changed the ${xdo.server.config.dir}/repository to C:\PROGRA~1\Oracle\BIPUBL~1\bip\repository in the following folder. C:\Program Files\Oracle\BI Publisher Trial Edition\bip\server\wls\user_projects\applications\bipdomain\xmlpserver\WEB-INF

    Thanks,

Log file would be in path like "DOMAIN_NAME\servers\ADMIN_SERVER_NAME\logs". I'm not familiar with trial version and you could have a Managed server or not. Depending on that you may not see managed server logs.

"Program Files" has space in it. Though that may not be the problem, I would still like to rule that out. As I mentioned before check the Admin Sever/Managed Server logs. You could also post a screenshot of your security configuration.

Can you please let me know the path where I can look for the Admin Server/Managed Sever logs.

Sherry..there is no particular reason for changing the default config directory. I wanted to give an absolute path to the repository directory.

I have installed in Windows 7 Enterprise edition.

I have reinstalled in a new directory with no spaces or special characters.

    C:\Program Files\Oracle\BIPINSTALL\bip

Additional logs messages will be available in Admin server/Managed server logs. Any particular reason why you changed the default config directory? Also what OS is the app installed?

Edit: I would also recommend to store configuration and catalog files in a location without spaces and special characters in the path.

I am getting the following message on the Weblogic Server start Console while trying to save dataset.

    Thanks.

I have updated the 'System Temporary Directory' blank. But, still having the same issue.

In the bipserver.log, I am seeing the following errror.

Unable to load performance pack. Using Java I/O instead. Please ensure that wlntio.dll is in:

I have added the wlntio.dll in the system variables path and that did not resolve the issue.

Am I missing any configuration setting?

    Thanks
