Oracle cloud port and version number for web services and BI Publisher desktop

Content

Hi all,

I am almost a newbie for Oracle Cloud Applications of R12.

I got two questions.

1. How to know the port number and version number for the cloud environment

Oracle document says I need the port and version number to get the web service response like below:

https://****-test.login.ap4.oraclecloud.com:7001/hcmCoreApi/resources/11.1.9.0/emps

Above is to get all employees in HCM database. But I was unsuccessful in calling the web service to get all employees.

I am not an administrator but just a developer. How can I know the port number and version number we are using?

Is there any configuration to use the web services Oracle is providing by default?

2. BI publisher server connection

I am using BI Publisher Desktop to make a template. I was trying to connect to the BI Publisher Server like below but unsuccessful so far.

I have tried may port numbers but failed.

Where can I find the port number for BI Publisher server? Is it the same port with the port number in above question?

Thanks a lot in advance.

The port number will be the same as the OBIEE server.

However, you are connecting via HTTPS and as you are a government entity, in my experience, things may be very locked down on the server and on your desktop.

Can you reach the BI Publisher server in a browser using the URL that you are using in the connect string (you should not need the 443 port number)?

If not, then you will need one of your OS admins to come check why. Could be that the port is closed on your desktop. There is also some set up work to get HTTPS working for BIP

    https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/12212/bip/BIPAD/GUID-41C2BBE7-8E3C-4198-9925-AED8994A7E7F.htm#BIPAD203

Its worth checking that all the steps have been followed.

If you can reach it, then, there might still be an issue on your desktop regarding application permissions ie MSWord and ports

    Cheers
