Hello,

We often need to change labels in our RTF templates. We are not changing the placement of the label, we are only changing the name of the label itself. Therefore, we also need new template translations. In Word 2016, we use the Translate Template > Extract Text option to generate new xliff files.  Is there a way to prevent the extract process from generating a new trans-unit ID for the label that has changed? Or does someone have a good tool for merging changes in xliff files?

Hi

There is no way to stop the new ids from the Word plugin.

Rather than use the plugin you might take a look at using the XLIFF generation from the server interface where I think the ids are preserved

Google has a few hits on merging xliffs, the pomerge utility looks promising
