OBI - Could we use an Agent to schedule a report to send to SFTP server on Cloud?
Content
I have an assignment to schedule the report using an Agent to send to SFTP server. Most of the reports were scheduled to send to specific email addresses. most the document I read it has to be done on the window server; I am not sure that could we do this on SFTP server on cloud or not ? Is there anyone could help with this ? and if possible, do we have any document about this ? Thanks

BIP publisher can do this with bursting: https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/12213/bip/BIPDM/GUID-A926D588-426F-47C7-8A9A-B0A7959C5814.htm#BIPDM344
Core OBI / OAC not.

I think BI publisher can generate a report and send it to your email too however you can set up an intermediate storage which can have an export file using a certain report query and then you can use cloud backup module which can integrate with any other server in cloud or on -prem .

Are you talking about doing this in BI Cloud Service ? If yes - then no. It's a very limited 'delivers' and you can't send to SFTP.
Maybe you could do something within your e-mail client to set up a rule from a particular sending / subject, and then save the attachment to a local folder - and then have a tool that pushes anything from that folder to your SFTP. I use a mac and have a tool (Yummy FTP Watcher) that would do that. You could find something similar for windows.
OAC has full delivers, so you have more options there. I haven't tried sending to SFTP with OAC, but I know other cloud offerings can do this, so I imagine it's doable.

hi Richard,
What does OAC mean ?
Thanks

Thanks Christian, but my source file is on Oracle BI Cloud not Oracle publisher. do you have any idea to automation this process and send to SFTP Cloud instead of emailing to specific email address.
Thanks
Valerie

hi Hany,
I am not really sure how it works on your answer. my source file information( analysis) is from ORacle BI Cloud. the only way I could schedule to export the file is using an Agent. Right now we are doing manually to schedule and export the file to specific email address. do you have any idea to automation this ?
Thanks
Valerie

yes Richard, I am talking about OBI Cloud - using an agent to schedule a report. right now we are sending all the report to specific email. We want to go to automation so we don't have to go and run the schedule, then copy the file to the SFTP server. it is interesting to know that we could set up in the email to save the attachment file to local folder. OAC ? not really sure how it works ? is there a way to encrypt the file before we sent it out ?
all those things I have done in Oracle Publisher without any issue.
Thanks for your help

OAC = Oracle Analytics Cloud
Similar to a full OBIEE in the cloud (with a few exceptions). It has full delivers capability, unlike BICS.
Unlike BICS - it's a customer managed solution, so the customer will do patches etc - and has the ability to get to the operation system of the VM, tweak config files, just like you could with an on-prem OBIEE. BICS is fully Oracle managed, and is a lot more limited. An oracle managed version of OAC will be available shortly though for those customers who don't want to deal with the admin side.

Not with the situation you are in. OAC could do it because you have access to the actual OS and hence can use scripts on the host machine which you can call from the agent.
But again: in your current situation: no.

thanks Richard for these information. we are having some oracle services right now already. my goal is to schedule a report using an agent to send to SFTP server. seem to be it is not doable.

Hi Valerie,
I have a similar Request. Did you succeed to export the OBI report to SFTP? and would you mind sharing your experience if you succeeded?
