BIP PPT Output Widescreen

Content

Hi everyone!

We've had a requirement from the client to output a BIP report to PPT. They have requested that we force the output to display in widescreen (16:9) slide size.

We are developing in Word RTF and using landscape page orientation.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Many thanks

For starters, it is worth taking note of the information provided in the Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher 12.2.1.4.0, Fusion Middleware Report Designer's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher, chapter 4 Creating RTF Templates, section Guidelines for Designing RTF Templates for Microsoft PowerPoint Output. as it will help to understand the implementation of generating PowerPoint reports using BI Publisher.

What you are referring to is the option available in e.g. PowerPoint 2016 on the Master Slide:

This is a PowerPoint specific feature which in my understanding you won't be able to set directly using an RTF layout template. However, key here is what is the actual 'Slide Size' when you would use the Widescreen (16:9)? For that, I'd like to refer to Change the size of your slides, tab 2007/2010 for PC which provides some useful info under 'Choose a predefined slide size':

    Name

    Width

    Height

    On-screen Show (4:3)

    10 in / 25.4 cm

    7.5 in / 19.05 cm

    On-screen Show (16:9)

    10 in / 25.4 cm

    5.625 in / 14.288 cm

    On-screen Show (16:10)

    10 in / 25.4 cm

    6.25 in / 15.875 cm

On the RTF layout template, ensure that the orientation is set to Landscape and as for page size use the appropriate width / height from the table above. That way, you're PowerPoint output should have the same, and the data gets presented in e.g. a 16:9 format.
