Embed .pdf icon into .rtf output document (BI Publisher)

I have an .rtf (being used for embedded BI Publisher). I would like multiple .pdf's to pull into the final .rtf output document, based on the locations listed in xml data.
See Pic for example.
I have a dynamic XML file that will contain several file locations. I would like these files to be embedded into the .rtf (ultimately .pdf) output as it runs through BI Publisher. Ultimately I'd like to be able to auto email the .rtf output to customers - and they be able to click on the icon and it open the embedded document, back at their own company.
Wondering if I just insert a field into the .rtf and put some XSLT code behind it? If so, what code might I use?
