How to automatically/manually upgrade OAC instance?

Summary

I want to know, how I can automatically upgrade my OAC instance in my Tenancy

Content

My current OAC instance version is  105.2.0-312

I need to upgrade this version automatically, if possible. Else would want to manually click an update button to update the version. Currently, I am not seeing any option to update it in OCI. Please let me know if there is any option available in OCI to do this.

Workaround I've currently used - I created a new OAC instance within my tenancy and this automatically was assigned to a higher version (probably my tenancy is at this version) and it is at version 105.3.0-115.  This is not a good approach, in the sense, everytime I want to upgrade, I have to manually create a new instance, Migrate all users, datasets, projects etc to the new instance.

Please let me know if there is any option available in OCI to do auto/manual update of the OAC version. Any help is highly appreciated!

Version

OAC version 105.3.0-115

    Hello Chethana,

Can you please confirm your OAC instance is oracle managed or customer managed ?

If it is Oracle Managed instance then it is supposed to be automated, you can check it from my services dashboard. Go to My Services Dashboard - > Notifications.

There you will see all the scheduled updates along with their status.

Attaching the screenshot for your reference.

Please let me know in case you need more information on the same.

Chethana, is your OAC an autonomous or classic? If its is Autonomous, they are done automatically with an advance notification email to account Admin from Oracle. If it is Classic, then its on you to perform the upgrade. Make sure you have admin access to perform the upgrades, maybe thats why you are not seeing any notifications, or there are not any new notifications for your account. One or the other. Hope this helps!

Thanks Prasanna. How do we find if OAC is autonomous or classic?

    Hey Guys,

Do you have any info on this please? I want to know if my OAC is autonomous or classic. How do I find this out?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello Chethana,

You can get this information from your My Services dashboard.

Autonomous and Classic instance can be identified by the service name itself if it is classic then the name of the service name would be suffixed with classic like
Oracle Analytics Cloud - Classic and if it is autonomous then it would be Oracle Analytics Cloud (without classic).

Just to add OAC Classic can be hosted only on OCI Classic and OAC (Autonomous) can be hosted only on OCI.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Aman. We have an autonomous OAC and this information was useful.

I have admin access to this OAC. Whenever there is an updated OAC version, should I expect an email or should I go to notifications dashboard within OCI to see it? If it is a notification, where exactly may I see this notifications dashboard within OCI

    Hello Chethana,

Are you using an internal cloud tenancy if yes then those tenancies are the last(in the priority) to get updated with the latest OAC version that's what I heard recently however if you are using the credit model then you should be getting the instance update as soon as it is available.

    Best Regards,

Yes, ours seems to be an internal cloud tenancy.

    Thanks,

    Chethana
