First I agree with both of you, OLAP Option is a new technology, and has extra cost, for that reason I give the information about extra cost and this a new technology. Return to your comment, Cloudera? OK dont know why is your point being sarcastic? " The cons is that if you want a "1 month ago" and a "1 year ago" figure you need to build it separately (not a unique setup for all the timeseries calculations but a different alias with it's own joins for each different timeserie needs). " I take the advice of gianni and wait for Aritra Sen say to us.

When I did a Google search, I found this: http://obiee100.blogspot.co.uk/2011/07/period-comparison-without-time-series.html

Is there any particular reason for not creating a time hierarchy? Perhaps an issue described here? https://greatobi.wordpress.com/2012/11/09/tuning-time-series-metrics/

Ignoring time series, a hierarchy will still be useful in drilling up and down through years, quarters,  months, weeks (weekends! ☺) and days?

    My 2 cents.

    Regards.
