When I cancel a query in OBIEE 11.1.1.9, should it be able to cancel the query in the Microsoft SQL

When I cancel a query in OBIEE 11.1.1.9, should it be able to cancel the query in the Microsoft SQL server?  I am using ODBC 3.5 connection on the model.  This is the first time we've connected to a Microsoft SQL database and I'm finding that when I cancel the query in OBIEE, it is still running on the database.  If I go into administration and cancel the query, it says it is still running.  I checked with the DBAS and they confirm that the query really is still running.

I found a similar article that suggested this was fixed in 11.1.1.7.  but we are on 11.1.1.9.
