@User_U0OY6 - Welcome to Oracle Analytics Community!
Here’s a very brief and simple comparison of OBIEE vs FDI:
- OBIEE (Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition)
- Traditional on-premises BI platform.
- Requires RPD modeling and server maintenance.
- Flexible but heavier to manage and upgrade.
- FDI (Fusion Data Intelligence)
- Cloud-native analytics for Oracle Fusion Apps.
- Prebuilt data models, KPIs, and workbooks.
- Automatic upgrades and quicker time to value.
Brief on when to use which:
- Use OBIEE
- If you are running on-premises systems.
- When you need highly customized data models.
- If you must integrate with many non-Fusion / legacy sources.
- Use FDI
- If you are on Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications (ERP, HCM, SCM, etc.).
- When you want ready-to-use KPIs, subject areas, and workbooks out of the box.
- If you prefer a cloud, low-maintenance solution with regular automatic updates.
- Hope this helps! Please continue engaging with the Oracle Community.

Welcome to Oracle Analytics community.
In addition to above,
OBIEE is a traditional, on-premises business intelligence platform designed for data warehousing and self-service reporting. In contrast, Fusion Data Intelligence is Oracle’s advanced cloud-based analytics solution, built on Fusion Analytics Warehouse. It delivers prebuilt, AI/ML-powered applications with integrated data modeling and guided actions embedded directly into business workflows. This marks a strategic evolution toward application-driven, AI-enabled analytics for faster and more actionable insights.
Thanks.
