Add Expand - Collapse option in Excel Templates
Hello,
We currently have a requirement to add an expand/collapse feature within a report's output. We plan to use an Excel Template to design the report's layout.
I would like to know if it is possible to create expandable/collapsible groups in the report output using the native Excel grouping feature found under Data tab -> Outline -> Group.
If this is possible, could you please provide details on how to ensure this functionality is preserved when the report is generated?

There is no simple answer for this functionality because Oracle BI Publisher (BIP) Excel Templates do support Excel’s native Expand/Collapse (Outline Grouping) and the functionality can be preserved in the generated report IF the grouping is done correctly in the
.xlsxtemplate before uploading it to BIP.Oracle BI Publisher preserves Excel grouping as long as:
- You manually create the grouping in Excel before uploading the template into BIP.
- The grouped rows in Excel correspond to fixed rows in the template.
