Hi

Is Data Mashups in obiee 12.2.1.2.0 come as default or should we configure any where? please share lights on this

I got access to BICS trail from Oracle, where I can find Add Data Source button to add the excel as SA.

You'll need to open up Visual Analyzer. You can access this on your OBIEE home page by clicking on the Visual Analyzer Projects link.

Once you're in VA, you can add an Excel Data Source.

    Hi Joel,

I am bit confused here. I understood that Mashups & VA are two different ways of adding data external sources to SAs.

Is Data Mashup comes with VA license? or is this completely separate concept?

    Kind Regards

This is a definition of Data Mashup that I pulled off Google - A data mashup is an integration of two or more data sets in a single graphical interface. A business dashboard is a prime example of a data mashup hard at work – most dashboards pull data from multiple, disparate sources to provide end-users with an at-a-glance view of their business performance.

Visual Analyzer is Oracle's tool that enables the Data Mashup functionalit. So Visual Analyzer is a tool and Data Mashup is functionality. VA is a tool that comes with OBIEE 12c but requires a separate licence for its use.

In an earlier release of OBIEE 12c, you could add an external data source through Answers. This UI was deemed a bug, and removed. The only way to correctly add external data sources is through VA. It's all the same thing though - "Mashups", and all the same licence (part of DV; which is one of the reasons for it being removed from Answers).

Thanks Robbin, this cleared my doubts.
