OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.7.0 installation failing during create domain configuration steps

Hello experts,

I am trying to install OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.7.0 on windows 7. The database i am using Oracle 11g r11.2.0.1.0. After making several attempts i am not able to install OBIEE on my laptop. It is always failing in create domain steps during configuration. I tried all possible opitions as fas as i can do by googling

Create domain is taking long time and finally failing.

Set up loopback adapter

Set up static ip

set static ip in host file

removing previously failed installation service from registry.

Seeking help from community how to resolve the issue

A few questions for you:

have you looked at the compatibility matri - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi/bi-11gr1certmatrix-ps6-1928219.xls

Are you running 32. bit or 64 bit?

Another more fundamental question is why are you installing this on a laptop and not on a server? Also why such an old version of OBIEE?

I am running 64 bit.

The reason i am installing on my laptop to learn the tool. I am trying to install older version because previously i was able to install this version without any issue in different laptop.

In that case as it is solely for learning the tool, why don't you get hold of an OBIEE virtual machine.

It's a self contained virtual machine with everything installed and ready for you. All you have to do is to download the files and follow the straightforward instructions to get it all up and running.

Honestly there's about 100 times more features demoed and available for learning than when you tried to install it yourself. It's been developed over years by a team of people so there's just no way you can get anywhere close with a lonely install in Win7.

APEX, Spatial, R, Spark, CDH,....

Does these virtual machine include OBIA as well?

No ... OBIA is not included ... there is a plugin available - you might have to request it from Oracle.
