After restarting OBIEE 12.2.1.2 (on Linux), it was noticed that the config.xml file in <Oracle_home>/user_projects/domains/bi/config  has changed. Is there some other process that changes it?

on a side note, I am unable to paste in this forum. I have to type everything out.  I am using IE11.  Is there a setting that needs to be changed?

  • Weblogic can definitely be the one doing things in that file.

But it isn't a file you are supposed to touch by hand, so ... no need to care about it.

It is updated if you do something in weblogic requiring to write there inside, but it's managed by the system itself.

Also did you find out what changed in the file? Compare it with a backup.

  • Actually the most important question is: does it work?

You ask because OBIEE doesn't start or work fine anymore or just to find out because you saw the timestamp of the file changed or something like that?

Yes the bi_server1 is in ADMIN state when restarting the system.

The bi_server1.log has the following information:  Failed to initialize the application "bi-security-login" due to error weblogic.management.DeploymentException: javax.security.auth.login.FailedLoginException: [Security:090938]Authentication failure: The specified user failed to log in. javax.security.auth.login.FailedLoginException: [Security:090302]Authentication Failed: User specified user denied
