Hi,

I'd like to create a scatter graph in a 12c OBIEE analysis with time on the x-axis. Data Visualization Desktop lets you do this but you can't do it in Answers.

I found a blog article on how to enable a time series scatter but the steps seem to be out of date because the .cxml and .pcxml files don't seem to exist anymore:

Has anyone else enabled time series scatter graphs?

    Hi Christian,

    I have been on projects where basic OBIEE functionality was never used and it always leaves me with a bad feeling as you are leaving the client with something that they might struggle to support and Oracle will not support.

    Are there any ways to 'lobby' Oracle for new functionality, other than 'raise an enhancement request' which in isolation is largely pointless....

    It strikes me that regular forum users might be a good source for this, as we are the ones who know the product, its failings and areas where the client needs so much more than out of the box offers.

    You mention the basically most touchy subject there is. I agree that it's not the "best" solution to go for D3 or Jet, but...and here comes the big "BUT!":

    a) This is the way things go at moment

    b) Their idea with the plugins marketplace is slowly progressing

    c) If you do anything "big data"-y you'll anyways end up writing Java of one flavour or another

    On a slightly lighter note the road into Oracle's world of product sometimes can be smoothed by a combination of conferencing, beers, burgers and dancing. Oracle Product Management has a very visible and active presence at most of the conferences and User Groups and that direct contact (and access to the guys themselves) can help.
