  • What OS is that?

I bet on a Windows 7, 8, 10 or something along that line ... If it's the case have a look at https://dimensionality.ch/2017/05/06/installing-oracle-bi-on-windows-7-8-10/

More in general you are using a name which is the name of your PC apparently, but in a "home network" IP addresses can change, so if your PC changed IP address you maybe have a mismatch on that.

Never forget to look into logs and start by identifying the component which failed first: nodemanager, weblogic admin server, weblogic managed server, bi services (in this order: if node manager failed for example no need to look for others as they have no chance to work without node manager etc.)

  • I'm Using Windows 10. I've Installed OBIEE 12c in a laptop i bought recently, I haven't changed IP Address.

I tried to Start the BI tools C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Home\user_projects\domains\bi\bitools\bin\start.cmd.It says

Unable to connect to AdminServer on host: DESKTOP-1Q20P03. Below is the Output. Please Have a look.

  • Windows 10 is not a certified OS for OBIEE. It isn't expected to work on that OS.

It's not you changing IP but your router doing it by itself (the joys of dhcp).

Install Virtualbox and an Oracle Linux 7 vm: it's a supported os for obiee, will take about 10-15 minutes and another advantage is that you can take snapshots or clone the vm. Simple and avoid many issues.

Search here in the forum for the hundreds of people who ended up being in your situation and lost hours and hours trying to make work an enterprise tool on a desktop OS.

  • Just for the part about having a not adapted network configuration on a laptop vs a server or a vm: in your log at some point you have something like t3://DESKTOP-1Q20P03:9500: [RJVM:000575]Destination 169.254.137.174, 9500

When you have a 169. address its when windows assign itself an ip address because no connection. While in general your laptop is supposed to have a connection and a "real" ip.

  • Thanks for the Update.

Thank you so much for your inputs. I installed Oracle virtual box manager and configured it according to the deployment guide. After that when i try to Start DB & BI it is unable to start some servers. I'm posting the command prompt output below. Can you take a look.

  • What and how did you installed? (what OS, products, versions etc.)

As your DB doesn't start fine because of "ORA-00845: MEMORY_TARGET not supported on this system" then nothing else will works (as depend on the DB).

So looks like a lack of resources .... (if you installed it's weird it didn't tell you that during install, if you are using an existing VM would be helpful to know which one).

  • I'm using windows 10. I installed it with the help of instructions in deployment guide you've provided in the comments above. Oracle virtual box Version 5.2.0 r118431 (Qt5.6.2) is the VM i'm using.

  • So your laptop/desktop is Windows 10, on it you have Virtualbox, till here all ok.

In VirtualBox you deployed OBIEE SampleApp 607 ?

What resources did you assign to the VM? (cpu, ram)

  • 3 GB RAM and CPU 4

  • If you are using SA607 and look at the deployment guide you will see this:

6.5 GB ramUsers with more physical host memory can allocate more memory to the virtual machine

OBIEE is an enterprise tool, it's big and require resources. The DB same business, so with 3Gb RAM the DB doesn't even start (in a new install the DB can be installed with just 3Gb of RAM, but you have no chance to have OBIEE on top as OBIEE takes 3Gb and more by itself).

Increase the RAM (if you have only 8Gb close all the not needed apps on Windows to get as much free RAM as you can).

  • It worked. Thank you.
