Looking at how your post and the questions are written it's not actually you asking these questions but you got those and just posted them here... Which is kind of why this post doesn't make a lot of sense since you do not provide any context or information.

      and

Also since as I said this sounds like something that was asked of you and simply reposted here: This forum and generally all communities here to help people and not a free "do my homework" place.

Wow... Appreciate you as a poster on here Christian but surely it would have been easier to just answer his or her question (if you know the answer) instead of giving him or her a lecture?

It comes across to me like the poster's first language is not English. Maybe they did copy the questions because it was easier than trying to structure the words themselves?

    @Adam Wickes

I posted the how-to and FAQ for a reason: They support what I said and reinforce several other points - chief among them being to conduct research before posting questions and to provide context.

This is to curtail exactly those "do my homework" questions. It's that type of questions where you can't help but get the impression that it isn't worth the poster's time to investigate, let alone read the documentation for quite literally 2 minutes. Many people consider that disrespectful towards the people trying to help...hence the term "etiquette".

Also most people posting are not clients but consultans. Meaning it is their job for which they are being paid. Furthermore it is as a result also supposed to be their "profession" - if that word still has any value today.

How have the knowledgeable people in the forums and on StackOverflow for example acquires their know-how? Reading. Understanding. Reading. Comprehendung. And more reading.

tl;dr - it's about respect, courtesy and professionalism

PD: My first language isn't English either and neither is it Gianni's for that matter.

  • Staying neutral on the topic I would just say that looking at the history of the OP you also see that it isn't about a forum but just really about what Christian called "do my homework", as none of the threads have never been closed and the OP never ever posted anything back when people posted answers or suggestions.

A forum is a 2 way communication: you give and you take, so when you just take you don't really want a forum but it's called "consulting services", a paid solution.

Going back to the OP questions ...

The OP says the 2 "home" looks the same, well ... they clearly doesn't as what is called "new home" is VA/DV. So how can VA/DV looks like Answers? Depends on what environment the OP is working on, what's settings etc. Lot of things are suggested in as otherwise the answer is: The OP is lying as the 2 pages aren't the same at all.

All very fair points Christian. My apologies.
For what it's worth, I got a giggle out of this:

"Furthermore it is as a result also supposed to be their "profession" - if that word still has any value today."

    Ain't that the truth!!

    Yep!!
I did wonder what drove that comment as the new home is very VA based.
We are building up our new 12c environments as we speak and have used css to hide that link as we didn't want users to get confused with where "home" is.

  • Yeah, smart move !

I find it totally wrong from Oracle to call it "New homepage".

It isn't the same tool (or why does it require a new license?), works in a different way and cover different needs than the "classic" home.

So it's good that you got rid of that link there.

For anybody who wants to remove the "go to new home page" link, this is what we used. Good write up.
