Performance Tile not working

I construct a tabular view answers analysis with two time series measures and a time period and a function on the time series measures and a couple of filters.

At this point everything works 100%

I then try to add a performance tile to my compound layout.

Here whatever measure I select the result shows no data and the tile just gives me a heading.

The table works as before.

My version is 12.2.1

Am I missing something obvious here??!
