HI Gurus,

i have a dashboard prompt for date,  right now it displays drop down values in the format "05/22/2019",  how to force the prompt to display values in "05/22/19" format ?

Please share any inputs. Thanks.

Column Properties -> Data Format ->

    It's plain standard functionality.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the input, but all i can access is the column formula f(x) of that column, not the column properties where we can assign a custom date format.

This prompt column do not exist in the report criteria.

    Thanks..

  • I guess the prompt simply use the default format masks defined by the language of your session. So you have a language which has the mm/dd/yyyy as the default date format.

    HI Gianni,

I want to alter the date format ONLY for this prompt values. Not for the entire system.

    Please suggest.

    Thanks.

Only for one prompt? Don't. It's not forseen and why have one prompt.different than the others?

    Hi Chris,

We have only one prompt of date type, rest are region, currency etc.

This prompt values are expected to be shown as report heading (narrative view).

    Thanks.

The question - and here I come back to what Gianni said - this:

HOW should your system show dates? 05/22/2019? Or 05/22/19?

You have to know which one it is and set the default accordingly. OBI is an analytical platform. Not a report vomiting tool where each instance has its own way of showing information - like 50'000 different ways of displaying a date. That's precisely what's not making any sense and what IT theoretically left behind in the 1990s.
