We have recently upgraded to OBIEE 12.2.1.4 version which has the dv capability. In dv I am not able to see the console tab and then later I figured out that we need to apply a patch to get the console tab as shown below:

Likewise,as shown below we have Dashboard objects in OBIEE analytics, similarly do we have Dashboard Objects feature in OBIEE 12.2.1.4 dv also, wherein I can define my layout using the column and section objects.

If there is a capability for the Dashboard objects, can someone point me to the release version in which it is available. And if it's not available, can we use any dv plugins to achieve this?

  • Hi,

I'm not really sure of what you are asking for: do you want sections and columns in DV? Or do you want a DV object to be able to easily add a DV project in a dashboard.

DV and Answers (the classical OBIEE) are different products with different behaviour. DV doesn't work on sections and columns but more on a free-format layout. You can build columns and sections by aligning things yourself.

A DV project can be embedded into a dashboard using an iframe, You find details here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TptK1mOcKL0

I want to build a Dashboard Landing Navigation Page similar to the below one in DV which is structuring the related content together. I know the below one is achievable in Classic OBIEE by using the sections and columns and adding some images and then linking a dashboard to the image based on the type of category. So does DV support this type of structuring the layouts and correct me if my understanding is wrong.

  • Although I understand where the "no" by Christian come from, sure you can build that kind of page in DV.

By default DV has a standard rows/columns alignment like you get with sections and columns, so visually it will be similar. You have the "Image" visualization which let you pick a picture and you can add an action on each with a link.

The main difference is that when you open DV you aren't in a project, so your users would first need to open your project with that front-page to use it. Or you would have to embed that one into a classical dashboard to have it visible. While a standard dashboard can be set as the default landing page after the login.

  • I was using OAC as I don't have a 12.2.1.4 handy right now.

Are you sure it isn't there in 12.2.1.4? The image visualization is a quite basic one, it's there for quite some time.

I see this option only in OBIEE classic but not in DV.

  • The option to add an image is there in DV in 12.2.1.4 !

Not sure why you posted a screenshot of DVD: DVD is in sync with OAC, not on-premises OBIEE.

This screenshot is from a clean 12.2.1.4.0 :

Even in the instance where OBIEE 12.2.1.4 is deployed, I see that graph visualisation is missing.

Sorry to disagree but it isn't an "à la carte" thing. In OBIEE 12.2.1.4 DV has the same feature for you as it has for me and anyone one else who installed it (as we aren't talking about custom plugins here).

Are you looking in the right place where that thing is supposed to be? You probably aren't ...
