I am modeling my rpd but when I try to set the primary key by opening the properties window of my fact table, the keys tab does not list any columns- usually it will have a list of columns with check boxes and from there I designate the one I want to be my primary key. any suggestions on why the list is missing?

  • Can you please make an extra effort in adding context to your question a bit more?

What version of OBIEE, what is your "fact table" (is it a logical table, a physical table, anything else).

I really don't see where there would be a list with checkboxes for keys (expect for logical levels keys to define which one is a display column of chronological key).

I am using 12C and its physical table in the physical layer. On the screenshot I shared with you, the columns option should have a drop down list with columns and checkboxes to select the column you would want to act as a primary key. I can see those columns in other fact tables and I just cant figure out why my particular table doesn't list those columns.

  • Ah, that one.

The checkboxes are into the dropdown list.

You first have to enter a name for the key, once at least a letter is in the column "key name" on the next empty row, you can click on "Columns" and the dropdown icon appear and there you can open it and select the column(s) you need.

The name generally comes automatically in the same time as the keys when you define physical joins between tables. If you want to set keys by hand you must enter a name first.

Just for future usage: "12c" means pretty much nothing as there were almost 20 "12c" version so far.
