Making presentation layer synch with BMM layer
Hello All,
One observation:
If I made any change for existing objects at BMM layer , for example renaming a column , that is automatically reflecting at presentation layer, however if I rename an exciting dimension like Dim Time in below screenshot , that is not automatically reflecting at presentation layer. I tried to drag and drop Dim Time1 to presentation layer to see if name Dim Time1 is being refreshed/updated at presentation layer but in vain (however consistency is intact after renaming).
I guess only option is to delete the existing presentation layer and drag again from BMM layer to get this change reflected.

Thx

Several things
a) you can rename presentation columns
b) that will create a new alias for the presentation column so it can still be referenced by presentation server objects or other tools which use the presentation layer
c) the tool is built this way to ensure both re-usability and that people think about what they are doing
d) never forget that there are front-end apps reading nthis so there will be impact going forward
e) sure you can drop and recreate from the BMM but then everything you have already built in any front-end will break
So - no, your "only option" isn't the only one and most importantly is the one that will break the most things

For example , trying to rename to Dim Time1 in presentation layer in below:

By default since many years it's off as the "good practice" is to rename things in the business model (because 1 business model = 1 or many subject areas, so renaming in BMM is 1 place vs potentially many places).
