Dynamic variable in OBIEE 12 connectionpool

Is it possible to use dynamic variable in OBIEE 12 connection pool. Created a intialization block with case stmts to determine username based on environment. Assigning that variable instead of username not working

    "not working" meaning what in this case? It doesn't get used at all? The wrong one gets used? What precise error do you get and where? What exact configuration have you done?

    Issue has been resolved, there were circular connection pools between two dynamic variables
