Hello -

apologies ahead of time for not knowing the proper way to ask this question but...

we use OBIEE to run ad hoc queries but have not engaged with the automated scheduling tool within it. we would like to use the scheduler in order to automate jobs and save time. we have been told that it is not an OPEN scheduler and that if one associate scheduled jobs, another associate would not be able to access or maintain those jobs in case they left the company or were unavailable.

that seems unlikely to me and think our IT team has not dug into the issue. is it truly not an open system where anyone on our team surface scheduled jobs and make changes if necessary?

thanks for any advice or input!!!

  • Assuming you are talking about OBIEE agents, everything is possible because OBIEE has a quite flexible security model. Agents that aren't about personal content should be owned and executed by a "system" account (not an employee that could leave the company). You can then use "act as" and things like that to behave as this user to keep the security strict and not letting anyone else creating and editing agents.

Everything is possible, it all depends on your security model, your processed and rules.
