Should we be able to see the Application Roles under the Identity Manager when connected to the repository in Online mode?  In 11g, after opening Manage > Identity, there was an option for Action > Synchronize Application Roles.  That option is absent in 12c.  I can't see any application roles in the Identity Manager dialog.

There are also no roles listed when attempting to set Permissions for any object in the repository.

Ping.  I am unable to set any role-based permissions, such as query limits, in the repository because I see no roles under Manage Identity or on the Permissions screen for presentation layer objects.  Nor is the option to 'Synchronize Application Roles' present in Manage Identity.  I am using OBIEE server verrsion 12.2.1.0.0, with Admin Tool package 151011.0347.000.

Does ANYONE have any information about this topic?  It affects many different areas of OBIEE.  Can someone at least reply and tell me whether you are seeing the same behavior or not?

Yes, the roles does not displayed for me too (administration tool 12.2.1.0.0, package 151011.0347.000).

I created a similar theme 2 months ago and the best answer was:

Could be a bug or the great Oracle removed this much needed feature and forgot to tell us!

I faced this Problem in obiee 11g and opened a Service Request at support.oracle.com. I got a solution within an hour. (It was a bug and they suggested me to install a small patch)

Maybe you could do the same for your issue.

Thank you, 2706448.  (Sounds like a prison number, ya know?)

Unfortunately, 15 minutes of Googling reveal no patches for OBIEE 12c yet (over 4 months after the release).  And because I am a lowly "partner" (training company), and not a "customer", I have no way to open an SR.

Now for the flip-side of that question:  Is there anyone out there for whom this is working properly?  That is, you CAN see the Application Roles under Manage Identity, and you DO see the 'Syncrhonize Application Roles' option?  If so, what is your repository version number?

It appears that they didn't deliberately remove it.  The documentation for 12c still refers to it in the usual places for the usual purposes.

Starting with OBIEE 11.1.1.9, Oracle made a design decision to remove the single-click synchronization of roles between Fusion Middleware and the OBIEE Repository.  This design decision requires us to manually create roles in the Admin Tool that match the roles in Fusion Middleware.  Oracle has reversed this decision, and will be reintroducing the display of roles in the Admin Tool as well as the single-click synchronization of roles between FMC and the Admin Tool.  This functionality is scheduled to be included in OBIEE 12.2.2 (release date unknown).
