Hi All,

We are working on a POC for OBIEE 12c on a windows 2012 server machine. node manager, adminserver and managed server are on the same machine.

I am trying to create windows services just like we did in 11g.

I was able to get all 3: Nodemanager, AdminServer and Managed Server (bi_server1 in my case) started via services.

However, I can't seem to get any of the bi components up in EM.

The managed and adminserver are up and show green in both em and console.

I am attaching few errors below.

If you need some more information let me know.

Thanks

Marwin

The error I see at a lot of places is:

Starting server obis1 ...

This Exception occurred at Fri Feb 19 16:22:13 IST 2016.

The node manager logs don't really say much:

    Hi,

So, after going through the logs for nodemanager, adminserver and bi components setting some environment variables resolved the issue.

But, looks like these variables don't need to be set while starting the application using start.cmd batch file in the bitools folder.

I was able to getting the bi component services for BI Server, Presentation Server, Java Host and Cluster Controller. The application is up on windows services. Yay!

However one last issue is the BI Scheduler service which keeps failing with the message:

    [2016-02-23T14:30:47.517+05:30] [OBISCH] [TRACE:1] [] [] [ecid: ] [sik: service1] [tid: c18]  [68032] Scheduler step: driver - error before starting RPC Server

    [2016-02-23T14:30:47.520+05:30] [OBISCH] [ERROR:1] [] [] [ecid: ] [sik: service1] [tid: c18]  [68008] Scheduler Error: [nQSError: 46163] No configuration found at location(s) C:\Obiee12c\home\Oracle\user_projects\domains\bi\config\fmwconfig\biconfig\OBISCH\instanceconfig.xml   Software\Oracle Corporation\Oracle BI\scheduler\12.2. [[

[nQSError: 67042] The Scheduler Configuration is incorrect.

    [nQSError: 46163] No configuration found at location(s) C:\Obiee12c\home\Oracle\user_projects\domains\bi\config\fmwconfig\biconfig\OBISCH\instanceconfig.xml   Software\Oracle Corporation\Oracle BI\scheduler\12.2.

[nQSError: 67042] The Scheduler Configuration is incorrect.

    ]]

I checked the location $ORACLE_HOME\user_projects\domains\bi\config\fmwconfig\biconfig\OBISCH\, and can see a file schedulerconfig.xml.

I don't see an instanceconfig.xml like we had for OBIEE 11g, surprisingly if I start the services using the start.cmd batch file in the bitools folder BI Scheduler comes up fine.

I'm not sure why the application is not when I do the same while managed server is deployed as a windows service.

    Thoughts?

    Any replies would be appreciated.

    Hi Marwin,

I'm experiencing issues very similar to your first post above. In your second post, you mentioned having to set some Windows environment variables to get the EM components to start up. Can you share what those were?

Also, did you get past your Scheduler issues?

    Thanks Marwin!

Yes, please I was facing the same issue. How did you resolve it? Can you describe this in length.

    Regards,

    Krishna

    Hi Krishna,

I wasn't able to get Windows Services to work, so I used this approach instead which is also recommended on Oracle Support:

OBIEE 12c as a Windows Service
