Description

When searching within the unified home screen allow an option to search by project name.

Use Case and Business Need

Currently when searching for projects in the unified home screen the search will return results that have no relation to the search text.  I believe this is due to the fact that it is searching project content and not just the name.  We have hundreds of reports, so when a user is searching for project they end up with a significant amount of results that they still need to search through manually in order to find the specific report they are looking for.

More details

Using the Oracle Sandbox app.  I searched for the project name containing 'top'.  As you can see, I get a project that has the name 'Simple Sample Project'.  That obviously does not have the text 'top' in the search string.

When searching, you get the options to either 'search content' or 'visualize'.  There should be another option to 'search name'.

  • I believe this was addressed in 5.5. In addition, you can also make sure only Project results will be returned.

Hi Gabby, Thanks for the quick reply.  I am running 5.5 and still see this issue.  If I search for only the work 'program' my results will all contain that string.  When i search for 'program detail' my results begin displaying other non-related results.  It would be a much better experience if the exact string entered is the results that are returned.  In our organization,   if we search for 'program' we'll end up with 50+ results.  So, then the user will need to manually scan 50+ projects to find the project they are looking for.  Not a great experience especially when the project names returned don't even contain the string that was searched.

    Thanks again!

    Jay

  • The search looks for "Program" and for "Details" and for "Product Details", this is normal behavior of search. As you can see, most of them have either Program or Detail. If you want to search only based on the combination you should use quotes. There are still some cases like "CX Weekly Billing" that we will check it, the issues is not as severe as pre 5.5 but it is not completely gone.

There is a different issue in your example which is the sorting of results. Based on the explanation above, the results with "Product Details" should come first followed by partial results. We will look into it.

Thanks for looking into it.  I have tried using quotes...strangely with worse results.  I've attached two images: using single quotes and double quotes (not sure which should be used, so I tested both).

    Thanks,

    Jay

    Gabby,

As mentioned in following comments/replies, the search is not working correctly.

I am working on the on-prem OAS version 5.5. I was especially looking for multi-search term results like "Product Details" and I was expecting exactly what you have mentioned above that the results would be for "Product", "Details" and "Product + Details" but this is not the case. I have tried using a "+" sign between the two or to encapsulate in double quotes but with similar incorrect results as mentioned by the original poster.

This is a much desired feature.

    Thanks,

    Manish

  • This is now a committed feature, we will communicate a timeline once it is ready to go.
