Refine searches in Anaytics Server
Description
We have noted that the catalog search is working differently in Analytics Server and Analytics Cloud compared to the old OBIEE. Previously the search engine used the search terms as a sentence or ANDing the search terms if you like. The new search functionality in OAS and OAC is searching for each individual term and ORing so to speak. This causes major problems for our user community when they try to search for specific catalog objects. What previously would fetch a single report (if you searched for the name) now brings 100's of results for the users to browse through if they are unlucky.
This is a major drawback and has caused a lot of badwill among the users when we upgrade to OAS from OBIEE.
My suggestion is that you create an option of searching by ANDing the search terms.
Use Case and Business Need
As mentioned above the current search functionality that often returns massive amounts of hits from the catalog is causing our user community to lose time when working as they have to scroll through a lot of data to find what they are looking for. In some cases they even consider the search functionality to be useless since it doesn't help them to find what they are looking for.
With the possibility to search more specifically the users will find what they are looking for immediately. = saved working time
The actual search takes a lot longer to complete in OAS compared to OBIEE due to the nature of the search (OR) also.

No option exists for searching all the search terms at the same time (AND) in OAS (and OAC) (as mentioned in SR 3-25012280301)

Advanced search operators ( and many fixes & improvements ) will be delivered in OAC 6.0
Some of the new improvements include support for : AND , OR , Wildcards, Targeted search ( ie : Owner:Aders ) and many more improvements.

Sounds really promising!
Do you have any idea about when those features will be available for OAS..? If I understand correctly new features are rolled out to OAC first and then later arrives for OAS.

Same issue as described. In OBIEE could search for specific report and results would be near instant and in OAS search runs for several minutes with same criteria and returns thousands of results. This is a must have in OAS to improve user experience.

The next update of OAS (early 2022) will include the features from OAC releases since 5.9 till the January 2022 update. It will include the search enhancements documented here:
