Description

We need to have the flexibility to reorder columns during data flow creation. This is especially needed when you create new columns and need to customize their placement based on requirements/type/name/etc.

Current capability does not allow reorder columns so we are left with the order used in when the data set was created.

Use Case and Business Need

Create new columns and order them as per business requirement in the Data Flow.

  • Hi Angel,

I believe this should be possible by using a 'Select Columns' step in the data-flow where you can add/remove columns in any order.

This would be helpful to organize columns logically

  • The downside to re-ordering in Select Columns is that if you have thirty columns and you want to move column number 15 to the end of the list, you have to deselect columns 15 - 30 and then reselect all of them in the new order. A drag and drop reorder where I could select column 15 and move it to the end of the list would be a lot more user-friendly.

  • I have two suggestions to add to this.

    1. We should be able to create folders to organize the columns.
    2. We should have a quick button that chooses the sort the columns alphabetically ascending or descending
