Create a data source

When I try to create a data source using a file the application is crashing. I did create 2 data sources, I deleted them and from this point I cannot create a new one. It crashes every time.

Yes, I mean "Data Set". Indeed, when I select a file for a data set, DV shuts down.

Where I can find log files?

When you say create a "data source", do you mean a "Data Set"?

When you click on create a "data set" you should get a list of options.  I assume you are clicking on "File" (should be the first option) and then you should get a list of files.  Is it "crashing" at that point.  When you say "crashing" does that mean the whole of DV shuts down?

We can start by looking at the logs that are produced by DV if this is the case and you are ready to do that?

are you using the latest DVD?

Did you uninstall and reinstall the latest version?

Can you replicate the issue on another machine?

https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/bidv1221/desktop/data-viz-onprem-manage.htm and click on "Troubleshoot" and look for "diagnose a technical issue".  The zip file created is a bunch of the logs.

    Hi there,

sorry to hear of the issues. This does seem to happen if you dont have enough memory. Might have to check this. Also, is it a .csv or excel file you are uploading to DV to create data? What is the source?

    Cheers,

    Sanjiv

The problem is that it worked first time. I add 2 csv files and I did a project.

I deleted them and from that point when I try to add a data set DV shuts down no matter is cvs or xls.

    Thank you,

    Adrian

    hi Adrian,

Got it. This has happened to me as well a few times :-). Are you using Chrome? I'd suggest you do - DV is relatively more stable on it.

If you are on Chrome, then I'd suggest you try uploading from edge, failing which IE. In these situations I've had luck swapping browsers. I then save the file before doing anything else, log out, and relogin again.

Hope this works! do let us know,

    Cheers,

    Sanjiv
