OTBI: Fusion Cloud OTBI standard Report Customization
Summary
Error customization of standard OTBI report
Content
Hello There,
We are using Oracle Cloud Application 19C (11.13.19.07.0). In one of the standard OTBI reports, we would like to add 2 columns (Last_Update_Date and Last_Updated_By of the Receipts) from the available Subject Area in the report. The details are as below
1. Report Path: Shared Folders -> Financials -> Receivables -> Receivables Balances
2. Report Name: Reversed Receipts Report
I made a copy of the reports under Custom folder (same standard folder path as above). I included the 2 columns in both the Subject areas of the report. On execution it gives an error message.
Please find attach the snapshot of the actions I have performed for your reference:
1. Catalog files:
. a. Reversed Receipts Report.catalog
b. Report Components.catalog
c. Prompts.catalog
2. CustomerConnectExplanation-Print Screens OTBI.docx
My questions:
1. What are the steps you need to do when you have to customize a standard OTBI report?
2. How can I make this report work as per the requirement?
Appreciate your help. Look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you
Regards,
Donald

Hello Donald,
This is a union report and in order to modify or add the columns to the union report you will need to make sure that the number
and data types of the columns must be the same in all the subject areas. So as per your requirement you want to add Last_Update_Date and Last_Updated_By columns to this report so in order to do that
you will need to pull these columns from the relevant subject area and pull the columns of the same data type from the other subject area.I have created one test report for your reference, please find the attached archive file.
Hope this helps!
Let me know in case you need further assistance.

Hello Aman,
I had a look at the test catalog file of yours and tried to do the same, but not success.
I have attached a document with the steps I performed and my questions stated in it. There are a few other OTBI reports similar to this ones which I need to modify as well
Could you please take a look at the same and advise?
Many thanks
Regards,
Donald

Hello Aman,
Thank you very much for the document. Something new I learned.
Created a new OTBI with same Subject Areas, with 3 columns and they worked like you have mentioned in your document. I could see a new column coming up in the 2nd Subject Area.
------------------------------------
The Actual OTBI Report
------------------------------------
Took a new copy of the original version version
I followed your document. At the end I added the last updated by column in the Subject Area 1.
In the 2nd Subject Area, at the end of the layout, after the '...'.column, I do not see any new columns coming up which would say 'Add Column (Last Updated By) 4th printscreen in your document.
Therefore, in the 2nd Subject Area, I pulled out manually a 'Char' column and placed it at the end of the layout. It errors out the message “….number of columns and their data types…”
I go to the Show Results layout, the column Last Updated By is missing
I have attached the document of the sequence I am following, for your reference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Donald

Thank you Aman for your solution.
It was a browser problem. In Chrome I was not able to see the 'Add Column...' whereas in MozillaI was able to create it as per the steps you mentioned.

Hi everyone! I am having issues adding a column on a similar type of OTBI - I followed the steps in the document of @Aman Jain-Oracle (Thank you - very detailed!!), but keep getting either an error message when trying to view the results, or the data in the column on the report has nothing to do with the real data (as if the columns' data shift and it becomes messy).
Tried different browsers with no luck.
Did anyone else experienced that?
