Union in Multi Table Dataset
Organization Name (Required - If you are an Oracle Partner, please provide the organization you are logging the idea on behalf of):
Worthington Industries
Description (Required):
The use of multi table datasets is really growing on me but there's still one key function missing. Union is not allowed. You should be able to use the same union option as in a data flow but in a multi table dataset. My work arounds have been to use SQL to union which is not something a common user can do. We will need to be able to union and also be able to reorder columns or manually link which columns should match as well.
Use Case and Business Need (Required):
Without union, people resort to creating data flows. Data flows are fine but they do not allow you to have live connections. Data flows force a schedule to be turned on instead of having a live multi table dataset.

This change would prevent the need for scheduled data flows (which Union's are challenging to deploy in). Being able to avoid redundant scheduled reports just to create a union would be of great value to our organization.

I am very disappointed to realize union is actually not available. It seems to me, union SQL - query is not possible between CSV-file and dataset, so I am out of luck. Or maybe it is just lack of permissions. Anyhow union is best (only rational) option to combine actual and planned data for reporting.
