Custom Data Security for Line Managers - Learning
We are excited to announce a new enhancement in Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI) that empowers organizations to control and customize access for line managers to their teams’ learning data!
This new security configuration ensures the line managers view comprehensive learning information for employees who report to them.
This step-by-step guide explains the configuration setup, starting with semantic model extension and mapping roles in FDI. It helps ensure secure and hierarchy-based learning visibility for managers. Explore the document to configure and validate access controls in your environment.

Hello,
We have tried using this document and it is still not working to show the correct data. In addition, we really need to be able to have our Line Managers also view Workforce Core by supervisor hierarchy and view Learning that was completed at any time by their current direct reports. Any recommendations on how to successfully make both requirements work?
Note, we had to make a custom view already to bring in latest assignment attributes for Learning since the delivered learning fields were showing multiple rows when people had changes in the assignment area, like line manager or department.
Is there any work being done to just have the delivered HCM Supervisor Hierarchy provide all Learning Enrollment details? We have been working on this now since the customization document came out and are spinning our wheels. Our end-users are getting very frustrated that they can't rely on the tool to provide correct data.
We also notice that a similar issue exists when we try to limit data visibility by department or business unit for our learning specialists. They cannot see all enrollments of people in the current business unit they have security for - only if the learning was completed in the current business unit.
Thank you for the help on this.
Jen

I would appreciate a response to our issues. We have created an Oracle SR, and they have not been able to help. We will need to revert to not using the tool due for the Learning area if we cannot resolve these concerns.

Hi @Jen Paddington ,
The learning custom security works fine with the Line Manager roles which is used to access Workforce Core and other subject areas.
The recommendation is to make sure you remove the HCM Learning Line Manager role, which was designed to handle new 3 learning SAs released as part of Learning V2. Can you confirm if you have implemented this in HCM - Learning Items and Enrollments subject area? With respect to multiple assignment records, like manager change or department change, can you confirm if you are using Workforce Core to fetch the assignment information? Learning doesn't fetch the historical changes on the assignments, instead it picks latest records from assignments.
Chances are there if a person has more than one assignment you may see multiple records, for which you may need to make use of fiters effectively, like Primary Work Relationship flag or Assignment status etc. This Learning Items and Enrollments subject area works fine for all statuses in enrollments. A person to appear in the report through this subject area, you need to have enrollment record, irrespective of status, Not Started or Inprogress or Completed.
Request to share the SR details, I can review and get back to you.
Thanks.
