  • Actually that's a perfect answer !

Nobody asked you to be able to take a picture of that cat and then use photoshop to put the words on it, all they asked you is why you like it (you = the OP, not Christian)

PS: if you go there with an OBIEE dashboard I would say 85% you don't get the job

+1 on that. Too conventional if you take any old dashboard in itself.

Study Data Visualization principles ... understand them to the point of being able to critique ANY visualization of data.

Great thinkers on the subject are Edward Tufte, Stephen Few, etc ...

Having done data visualization for 20+ years, I can tell you @Gianni Ceresa, @Andrew Fomin. and @Christian Berg have given you a great start in forming your approach.

The PRIMARY goal of visualization is to display the answer at the speed of thought ...

If I were you I'd bring two -- one that does it well and one that doesn't.  Being able to speak to right & wrong / good & bad allows you to demonstrate a more complete grasp and understanding.

Bring a good one and a bad one....that's good. Show the "WHY" of each.

Funny enough most adults lose the capability to comprehend the importance of "why" while my 4yo nephew can't stop asking it.

You wait until he starts processing and thinking on his own and then it turns into "WHAT IF?" ... lol

For sure! Likewise a capability which manager seem to lose.
